So you are looking at jobs in the music industry, but you don’t really know where to start. There are a variety of different career choices n the music industry and just so you know that a love of music does not guarantee you a long and happy career. Agent: If you want to be the type of person who works with many types of people and help put together tours, than being an agent could be a career choice that you can look into. As an agent you have to be really organized and have the ability to multi task, as it involved with dealing with all types of people all wanting different types of things done. Starting off can be quite a grind, but if you become a top agent you will be making fairly good money.
Promoter: If you love music than out of all the jobs in the music industry being a promoter maybe the best job for you. As a promoter you will be promoting a variety of shows which can range for small local shows to worldwide tours as you get bigger and bigger. Work as a promoter is a fast pace job that can be fun for the right person.
Manager: As a manger you take care of the business side for the musicians. The artist wants to have all their attention on doing what they do best, which should be making money. A manager will take care of the business side of things, so if you are business savvy and also enjoy music being a manager might be one of the better jobs in the music industry.
Music Journalist: Have you ever opened a magazine and read some type of music review or some commentary on differing genres of music? That is the work of a music journalist. The great thing about being a music journalist is that you get lot of very cool benefits such as VIP or guestlist privlieges at many events. If you enjoy reporting stories or writing in general, I suggest you looking into becoming a music journalist.
Music Producer: If you like making beats or just creating sounds in general than a music producer position is one of the jobs in the music industry that you can really flourish in. A producer isn’t portrayed as glamorously as other people in a band or group, but their just as important.
Music Teacher: Music teacher is another one of the many jobs in the music industry. If you are someone who is good at teaching and sharing knowledge than becoming a music teacher could be quite a fulfilling career.
No matter what your interest and skills are, if you like music than there are many jobs in the music industry that you could be a good match for.
