How To Get Into Acting
Many models have come up to me and asked me how to get into acting. As a model, they realize that it’s harder than they thought to make a full-time living being a model and keeping up with that lifestyle. Other aspiring models who don’t have the right bone structure or just aren’t what scouters look for, turn to acting as their next step.

The one thing that they do not realize is that acting does need skills just like modeling does. In fact, the training for acting is a lot more specialized and some actors and actresses get their starts from theatre acting, dramas, plays, and stage productions in New York. Don’t negate the fact that there is a lot of hard work even if you know how to get into acting.
How to get into Acting
A lot of these actors and actresses have a full time acting coach to help them develop that skill. It takes a lot of skill to work this muscle and be able to act on point and right when the director yells “Action!” When you’re standing in front a group of people doing your first audition, it can be very intimidating to start acting at the drop of a dime.
To garner some of these skills in acting and know how to get into acting, here are some tips to get you started and get your feet wet. If you already have some acting background, it surely does not hurt to find your foundation again and stay grounded:
How to Get into Acting
- Being part of a drama club or a speech club like Toastmasters keeps you on your toes and always keeps you working that muscle. Think of acting as a muscle that you need to keep training until it gets better and better.
- Join a class or seminar on acting if you have to. The key is to have as much experience as you can so when you step in to that audition room, you’ll be able to wow the casting directors.
- Beyond practicing to act, read books on acting from some acting coaches or prior stars.
- If you are still new in the acting world, start with a small job like a crew job or as a movie extra. Get used to the set and know the ins and outs of a production crew and the settings.
The last important tip is not numbered because it’s the most important tip you need to know when learning how to get into acting. Be sure to never give up. You will be discouraged many times, but if you keep on trucking, you’ll reach your goals in no time.
