Dancing Auditions – What Dance Casting Directors Look For
Dance casting directors are usually people who have some sort of dance background behind them. Besides just having raw dancing talent, dance casting directors look for certain qualities and characteristics you must possess. As a dance casting directors, they have seen thousands of dancers, styles, personalities, and have been to many dancing auditions before.

You need to have the right attitude and plenty of sass for the directors to like you at dancing auditions. What sets you apart from other dancers? It cannot be just talent alone. There are so many talented dancers out there that in a see of great dancers, one dancer that is just slightly better will not be noticed.

You can have all the technical skills in the world with dancing, but if your attitude is off, it will throw your whole game off. Imagine seeing a ballet dancer who hit every technical dance move flawlessly, but had a sour look on her face or had an arrogance facial expression. It just makes the dance look ridiculously terrible. The attitude must be congruent with the style of dancing. Keep this in mind in your dancing auditions.

Besides having a strong dance foundation underneath you, dancers who get callbacks at dancing auditions must have the ability to learn different dance styles quickly. I’ve been to dancing auditions where some dancers were exceptionally great at one style of dancing, whether it be ballet, modern dance, or tap dancing. But when it came down to do a simple routine for another type of dancing, they were absolutely horrible.

Dancers need to be able to learn quickly. What impresses directors at dancing auditions is seeing a ballet dancer being able to switch flawlessly from ballet dancing to hip hop dancing and back to ball room dancing. I guarantee you that will impress judges, dance casting directors, and producers.

Finding dancing auditions can be hard, but with resources like the Internet, it can make the game a lot more easier.

Good luck with your future dancing auditions and I hope that your dancing career flourishes.
